I am a Specialist Nurse-Organ Donation, nationally known as a SNOD. I am part of the South Central Organ Donation Services team from NHS Blood & Transplant, John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford and one of the embedded SNODs for Queen Alexandra Hospital. My role is to support staff, patients including family and friends and members of the public in relation to organ and tissue donation as part of end of life care.
I trained as a registered nurse in Pinderfields Hospital (West Yorkshire). I have experience as a sister in neuro intensive care including spinal injuries, paediatrics, burns and general intensive care. Prior to this role I was the clinical facilitator and senior sister at Winchester & Eastleigh Healthcare NHS Trust and then a transplant co-ordinator for Chichester and the Isle of Wight.
